Cover made by Vladimir Isenberg for a book by E. Zamyatin, Russian author of science fiction and political satire. Play in 4 acts, based on Leskov's folk-story 'Levsha' and produced with sets by Boris Kustodiyev, was a great success, but the production was closed by cultural officials. Comparative liberalism of the early 1920's had disappeared and Zamyatin was under constant attack in the government-controlled press. Published by Musl', fairly small edition of 3000 copies. Poor condition, cover is partially detached, water and dusty staining on front and back cover. Pencil handwriting on the inside cover, some text is underlined with pencil. 94 pages.
