A volume 'I Photograph Russia' by James E Abbe, published by Robert M McBride and Company, printed in 1934 in the USA, first edition. A Communist-sympathetic portrayal of the USSR through commenting on his own photographs Abbe shows his audience a country which was hidden from most of the world. It comprises of 29 chapters, each with names such as 'Between Two Worlds', 'Socialism All Built' and 'Red Aristocracy'. Photographs appear continuously throughout the book (there are 80 in total) and highlight historical, cultural and social events. Excellent condition, hardcover with strong spine. On the inside cover is a neat label stipulating its first owner in 1934. A small stamp on the last page. 324 pages.
