German language version of USSR in Construction, #1 1932. Cover design by pioneering German artist John Heartfield. USSR in Construction was a monthly constructivist publication dedicated to construction projects and industry in the USSR, published in Russian, French, English, and German 1930 to 1941 as a collaboration between some of the most esteemed Soviet artists of the time. This issue focuses on the Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works and contains excellent examples of constructivist photography and photomontages depicting the building of the works. Photos track the entire construction process, from the selection of workers and their arrival at Magnitogorsk, to the living conditions at the site and press conferences on progress. Poor condition, tears, creasing, some pages are loose, pen writing on top right corner of cover, staining.
