English language version of issue #8 of 1932 USSR in Construction / SSSR Na Stroike. USSR in Construction was a constructivist publication dedicated to construction projects and industry in the USSR, published in Russian, French, English, Spanish and German 1930 to 1941 as a collaboration between some of the most esteemed Soviet artists of the time. This issue is titled 'Railway Transport for Socialist Construction' and features a wonderful selection of photos and photomontages on the subject. Includes a photo of the People's Commissar of Railways, A. Andreev, quotes about railways from Lenin and Stalin, photos of cargo and passenger trains, steam engines, signal boxes and a feature 'We are building tens of thousands metres of new railway', accompanied by maps and photos of the construction. The photos are by M Alpert, S Magaziner, A Pogocky, M Phekhner, M Rosenbaum, A Savelev, I Tartakovsy, A Shaihet, with text from A EIsenberg and Y Levental, and layout by Nikolai Troshin. Poor condition, front and back covers detached from the pages, tears and paper losses on the covers, paper skimming on the back cover. Inner pages in very good conditions, minor creasing.
