A Soviet magazine Art in the Masses, issue number 1(9), January, 1930. Dedicated to presenting the work of the Russian people, supported by the Association of Revolutionary Artists. A Constructivist design on the front cover featuring the stylised silhouettes of workers. This edition includes articles about ‘Equivalence and Neutrality’, ‘The Federational Artist’s Society’ and ‘Art in the Turn’ which focuses on the problems of the artists’ revolution in the rebuilding period. List of some artwork inside: a statue of Lenin by B D Korolev; ‘Worker’ a painting by P P Sokolov-Skalya; ‘Wind with Moscow’ an ink drawing by P P Sokolov-Skalya; ‘Blast Furnaces’ an ink drawing by V S Pshenichnov; ‘Bureau’ a painting by Franz Mazerel; various Communist posters; two paintings ‘The Seamstress’ and ‘ The Lecture; a poster ‘1905’ by A D Nemov; a painting ‘The Children’s Holiday’ by P Skorikov. Very good condition, stains on the back cover, small rips on the bottom of the spine. Creases on the top corner of the front cover. 32 pages.
