Issue #13 (131) of Prozhektor, a Soviet illustrated literary and satirical magazine, dated 25 March 1928. Prozhektor was published as a supplement to Pravda newspaper from 1923 to 1935. This is an interesting issue devoted to Maxim Gorky (1868 – 1936). It includes portraits of Gorky, as well as photos of him with his son and his grandchildren, playing chess with Lenin, and with Chekhov, Stanislavsky, and actors from the Moscow Artists Theatre. Other photos show his hometown, his office, and Sorrento (where he lived in exile). Articles and poems discuss his work, teaching, literature, involvement in theatre and biography, and there is a great collection of caricatures of him, and poems devoted to him. Very good condition, foxing, staining, ink smudges from printing.
