A volume 'Tales of a Russian Grandmother' by Frances Carpenter, illustrated by I Bilibine. Published by Doubleday, Doran and Company Inc, printed in New York in 1933. This book has adapted traditional Russian skazkis for an English-speaking audience, the tales are based on the legends recounted by W. R. S. Ralston in his 'Russian Folk Tales' and by Leon Sichler in his translation of 'Contes Russes'. List of artwork inside: illustrations and paintings accompany most stories, some are entitled 'Are you warm maiden?' The Frost King asked.' and 'They soon saw a bird with wings of silver and a tail of gold'. Excellent condition, hard back cover, spine faded but still strong. 292 pages.
