Classic Russian literature of the 20th century, one of the largest representatives of Russian symbolism. The Twelve is one of the most notable works written by Blok and one of the most recognised Russian poems. Written early in 1918, the poem was one of the first poetic responses to the October Revolution of 1917. Illustrated by Y. Annenkov, a Russian artist mostly known for his book illustrations and portraits. He also worked for theatre and cinema. A member of Mir Iskusstva. The illustration of The Twelve got Annenkov recognition as a book illustrator and is still one of his most well-known works. 62 pages.
