Original vintage Soviet constructivist book Fundamentals of Modern Architecture / Osnovy Sovremennoj Arhitektury / Les Bases de L'Architecture Contemporaine / Die Grundlagen der Modern Architektur. Includes experimental research work by Yakov Chernikhov, a constructivist architect and graphic designer. His books on an architectural design published in Leningrad between 1927 and 1933 are amongst the most innovative texts of their time. Consists of the author's foreword, introduction, and chapters: Methods of teaching and studying architectural fundamentals; Setting the discipline of organizing space; Architectural education and the study of new forms; Technical skills; Philosophy of architecture. The book features drawings and sketches of architectural compositions on various themes, such as chemical plant, trade and advertising building, a palace of arts. Published by the Leningrad Society of Architects, 124 pages. Poor condition, the cover and pages are loose, tears on the cover and spine, browning.
