Dated 1 January, 1929, this is the first volume of the magazine for politics, culture, criticism and bibliography, titled "Kniga I revolutsiya" ["Book and the revolution"]. Released in 10 000 copies twice a month, this publication celebrates the literature of the Soviet Union, reviews newly-published books, and overviews the state of the Soviet publishing industry. This issue focuses on the life and work of N. G. Chernyshevsky. The front cover includes the poster titled "Vosstaniye" ["Uprising"]. Good condition, tears on the edges, paper faded, some stains, the core loosely glued to the spine, delicate cuts on the spine, stamps on the front cover and the opening page, some pencil notes, one rectangular cut-off inside. 80 pages.
