Released in 10 000 copies twice a month, this publication celebrates the literature of the Soviet Union, reviews newly-published books, and overviews the state of the Soviet publishing industry. This issue includes a good number of essays referring to Lenin's personal view on literature and the publishing industry. Notably, the front cover depicts a portrait of Lenin.
