Original vintage Soviet magazine Life of Art Zhizn Iskusstva #25 June 1926. Life of Art was a theatre, literature, film, and art magazine. It was published weekly in Leningrad from 1923-1929, succeeding the newspaper of the same title. The magazine was issued by the Regional Department for Political Education and is replete with in-depth coverage of current movements and productions, mostly in Leningrad, with profiles of prominent actors and directors. The cover features photographs from the plays Princess Turandot, Marion de Lorme, Virineya and Le carrosse du Saint-Sacrement by Prosper Mérimée. The issue includes a poem about the career of Conrad Veidt, a German film actor; articles about criticism of bourgeois literature by Georgy Gorbachyov, a Soviet literary critic on the example of such works as The White Guard by Mikhail Bulgakov, and the answer to this critique; work of Proletkult in Moscow; ballet pedagogy; theatrical premieres and others. 23 pages. Poor condition, some pages are loose, some pages are stuck together, minor tears, stain, browning.
