"Around the World" the oldest Russian and Soviet magazine focusing on popular science and geography, history, world culture, published since 1861. Cover illustration by N Kochergin, Russian (Soviet) avant-garde painter, graphic artist, and sculptor mainly active in Leningrad. Born near Moscow, Kochergin studied at the Stroganov Moscow State University of Arts and Industry in 1908-1918. List of this issue's artwork included illustrations by I Korolev for the story "Fifty Below Zero", G Fitingof for the story "Massey and Son". Fitingof was a Soviet artist, graphic artist, illustrator of children's and adventure literature, artist of besieged Leningrad, member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. George Fitingof came from an ancient baronial clan of the Ostseen nobility. He graduated from the All-Russian Academy of Arts (1921–1926). Fitingof is best known as a graphic artist, aqua driver, postcard author, and illustrator of children's adventure books, including illustrations for J. Vern, M. Twain, G. Wells, and others. Published by "Krasnaya Gazeta", 1929. Good condition. Rubbings on margins, staining. Pencil handwriting on the back cover. 24 pages.
