Soviet Magazine Red Field, issue number 23-24, 30th August 1930. First published in 1922 by the Central Executive Committee of the Soviet Union. Weekly magazine. List of this issue's artwork included illustrations by P Staronosov, N Vysheslavtsev. Peter Nikolaevich Staronosov was a Russian and Soviet engraving artist, who worked in the technique of woodcut and linocut. Engravings by Staronosov were distinguished by bold, innovative compositions, an emotional, romantic vision of the world, and a high artistic level. Staronosov left behind a great creative legacy. He illustrated many books, made original watercolours, participated in various Soviet and foreign exhibitions. He was also very successful in the field of linocut. The most popular of his linocuts is "Northern Landscape" (1937). Moreover, he has achieved great success as a woodcut. Very successful were his woodcuts for the books entitled "The Golden Tail" (1930) and "Tales of the Northern Territory" (1934). Fair condition. Frayed cover, loss of material on margins, rubbings and staining. Unbound copy from a yearly subscription volume, top edge of the magazine is cropped. 23 pages. Published by "Izvestij TSIK USSR and VTSIK", 1930.
