"Life of Art" was a theatre, literature, film and art magazine. It was published weekly in Leningrad from 1923-1929, succeeding the newspaper of the same title. The magazine was issued by the Regional Department for Political Education and is replete with in-depth coverage of current movements and productions, mostly in Leningrad, with profiles of prominent actors and directors. The front cover depicts a picture of Yuryi Olehsa, a Russian and Soviet novelist. He is considered one of the greatest Russian novelists of the 20th century, one of the few to have succeeded in writing works of lasting artistic value despite the stifling censorship of the era. This issue's articles include "Subjects of the Reconstruction Period" by A Piotrovsky, "Against Movie-Editorial" by O Adamovich, "Revolution Art Victory" by G Gorbachev, "Fighting for the Ideological Drama" by V Blumenfield and other articles. Published by the "Tea Kino Pechat". Good condition. Rubbings, slight dust staining.
