The album combined archival materials with documentary photos, drawings, charts, and graphs. Composition and photomontage by El Lissitzky. Lissitzky's album on the Stalin Constitution, published as the equivalent of four issues in late 1937, was his most ambitious project for USSR in Construction. The cover established the theme of national unity by featuring a plaster seal that represented all the republics of the USSR. For the introductory photomontage on the title page, Lissitzky placed iconic sculpture by Vera Mukhina "Worker and Collective Farm Girl", atop a globe on which the Soviet Union is outlined in red. A red flag was also planted at the centre of the North Pole. The opening photomontage establishes a rhetorical frame for the issue whose intent is to extol the superiority of life in the Soviet Union as exemplified by the new Constitution. 34 photomontages including several on double-page. This issue contains illustrations by V Favorsky, P Vasilyev, D Moor, Kukriniksy and others. Published by IZOGIZ, 1937. Poor condition. Ripped binding, soiling, tears on the spine and margins. Blue ink stain on the left corner of the front cover, spine and pages. Rubbings and minor dust staining on the cover and pages. Missing fold-out poster.
