The book is dedicated to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, an American media company, founded in 1924, that produces and distributes feature films and television programs, one of the most famous movie studios. The book is illustrated with hundreds of full-colour and duotone photographs, posters, lobby cards, magazine covers, and other materials from the birth of the studio, and includes information about its creators, such as Louis B. Mayer, a Canadian-American film producer and co-founder of the studios and its personnel. Features photographs and stills from movies of such actors as Gibson Gowland, Ramon Novarro, John Gilbert, Mae Murray, Greta Garbo, Carole Lombard, James Stewart, Irene Dunne, Spencer Tracy. Includes works of such artists as Jacques Kapralik, a Romanian American caricaturist; George Petty, an American pin-up artist. His pin-up art appeared primarily in Esquire and others.
