Cover and illustrations made by Ivan Bilibin, renowned Russian illustrator and stage designer, co-founded the Union of Russian Painters. His style took most of his influences from Russian folk art, Medieval and Renaissance art, Art Nouveau, and the open line and filled color style of Japanese prints. As a graphic artist he had a pronounced ideology regarding the powerful line. Written by Maurice Percheron. Contains 149 photographs. Book is in fair condition, minor staining on the top edge on the cover, frayed pages, sellotape on the inside of the front and back covers. 159 pages.
