An album book, one of the best examples of propaganda publications of the Stalin period. This book demonstrates and chants the results of the Bolshevik plan for the reconstruction of Moscow. The book is richly illustrated with views of the "Stalinist" Moscow, which was in the most active phase of its transformation. The book contains articles including "Moscow's past" by N Ashunyn, "Way to October" by N Potemkin, "The most interesting city in the world" by V Durant, "I love Moscow" by F Gladkov, "Moscow gets prettier" by A Bah, "I am proud to be Komsomol" by N Kamneva, "The first capital of the world" by A Tolstoy, "Soviet palace" by B Iofan, "The City of Science" by A Shusev. Illustrations by Evg Burgunker, Soviet painter and graphic artist who was engaged in an easel, book graphics, ex libris. He worked in the technique of woodcuts. His work is represented in major museum collections, including the Pushkin Museum. Hardcover. Embossed pictorial cover. Pictorial endpapers. Numerous illustrations throughout (photographs, engravings, drawings). Good condition. Very slight discolouration of the pages due to the age of the book. Rusty paperclips. Rubbings and staining on the hardcover. Frayed dust jacket. Published by the newspaper "Working Moscow", 1935. 647 pages.
