Photomontage Spartakiada

Original photomontage collage study for a Spartakiada sports competition in the style of Gustav Klutsis. This unsigned handmade collage features black and white cut-outs from the Soviet 1920s period publications and is themed on Spartakiada 1928. Gustav Klutsis produced a series of postcards for Spartakiada sports games in Moscow and these sheets could be a study for postcard design, book illustration, or a poster. We acquired the whole set from a private seller in Latvia who purchased them in Germany from a private collection along with some other paintings and sketches from the 1920s-1930s. Based on our expertise, we believe it to be a genuine period original artwork. Fair condition, a lot of pages stuck together, the last page falls out
