Original vintage weekly Soviet magazine Rabochyi i Teatr Worker And Theatre #1 1924 September, dedicated to the current affairs of the theatre, cinema, music, and circus. This is the first edition of the magazine, which was founded in September 1924 in Leningrad. The cover features a photograph of Anatoly Lunacharsky, who was a Russian Marxist revolutionary and the first Bolshevik Soviet People's Commissar responsible for Ministry of Education and who also took a great part in the creation of the magazine. The issue features articles on the goals of the magazine, and its future content; the article by Lunacharsky on the roles of art; Opera and Ballet Theatre, Moscow Art Theatre IV studio with photos of actors; various theatres and film reviews. Published by the Central Management Department of State Academic Theatres, printed by Leningradskij Gublit with a run of copies 10 000. 30 pages. Poor condition, some pages are cut out, tears on the spine and cover edges, browning, pencil marks.
