Soviet Magazine Red Field, issue number 18, 1st May 1927. First published in 1922 by the Central Executive Committee of the Soviet Union. Biweekly magazine. A vivid painting of a traditional Russian scene on the front cover, another colourful painting ‘The 1st of May in Odessa’ by S Linova on the back cover. This edition includes the story of the gamekeeper ‘Michael Michaelson’ as well as another story entitled ‘Fourteen’. The magazine also features articles on ‘The First of May’, ‘Our Great Truth’ and poems ‘Today’ and ‘Our Holiday’. List of some artwork inside: sketches by Deni to accompany the feature on ‘The Anniversary of the Magazine ‘Pravda’ (‘The Truth’)’; a painting by K Yuon ‘The Five Year Anniversary of October’; a drawing The Face of Truth with a face of V Lenin poking thorugh the Pravda newspaper by V Deni; a painting ‘Mothers’ by K Petrov-Vodkin. Fair condition, cuts and wear along the spine, faint stamp mark on the back cover, unbound copy from a yearly subsciption volume, front and back covers detached, some pages inside loose. 22 pages.
