Soviet Magazine Red Field, issue number 20, 15th May 1927. First published in 1922 by the Central Executive Committee of the Soviet Union. Biweekly magazine. A striking painting by P Shuhmin on the front cover of a naval officer, landscape painting entitled ‘In Crimea’ by K Bogaevsky on the back cover. This edition includes a two page report on the 1st of May celebrations in Moscow with black and white photos and photomontage by N Petrov, an illustrated story ‘On the Stumps’ by I Soklov-Mikitor and another entitled ‘Letter of the Cement Barrels’. List of some artwork inside: a photograph of a peasant boy by N Petrov; illustrations to accompany the article ‘On the Stumps’ by S Gerasimov; a painting ‘The First May in Moscow’ by L Apple. Fair condition, cuts and wear along the spine, faint stamp mark on the back cover, unbound copy from a yearly subsciption volume, front and back covers detached, some pages loose. 24 pages.
