"Red Star Over Russia" tells the story of the Soviet Union, from the Russian Revolution to the death of Stalin through an amazing collection of posters, photographs, paintings, magazines, advertisements, pamphlets and other rare ephemera. During this period Soviet citizens endured Bolshevik revolution, civil war, Nazi invasion, famine and Red Terror. Nevertheless, it was also a time of intense creativity, in which the hopes, aspirations and revolutionary spirit of a people were captured in an extraordinary creation of visual material. Created by David King, British writer, designer and historian of graphic design who, assembled one of the largest collections of Soviet graphics and photographs. Contains reproduction of works of various artists, including: A. Rodchenko, Russian artist, sculptor, photographer and graphic designer. He was one of the founders of constructivism and Russian design, as well as G. Klutsis, who was a pioneering Latvian photographer and major member of the Constructivist avant-garde in the early 20th century. He is known for the Soviet revolutionary and Stalinist propaganda. Published Tate Publishing. Very good condition, minor rubbings. 352 pages.
