Original vintage constructivist magazine Ekran, issue number 39, 1928. The ‘working newspaper’. S weekly magazine on recent developments in the USSR and abroad. The front cover features a photograph of the Baltic fleet maneuvers by Nikolay Sterzer, a Soviet photographer; the back cover features the maneuvers of the Red Army near Kyiv. The issue features articles about the chemicalization of the USSR; a story War by Henry Poulaille, a French writer and a pioneer of proletarian literature with illustrations by A. Chernomordik; construction of roads; development of zoos; young film actors such as Yuri Zimin, the youngest Soviet actress Fatima Gilyazova, most known for movies Children of the New Day, Dzhoy i Druzhok, Mary Pickford, a Canadian-American film actress and producer, Jackie Coogan, an American actor and comedian who began his film career as a child actor in silent films; the struggle for influence in China between Japan and the USA; a story by Pavel Katushkin with illustrations by M. Dobrokovsky; 50th birthday of A. Smirnov, deputy Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars and 60th birthday of M. Pokrovsky, a Russian Marxist historian, Bolshevik revolutionary and a public and political figure. 14 pages. Poor condition, the spine and some pages are loose, tears on the spine, browning.
