The newspaper was a part of the Ministry of Culture of the USSR and the Central Committee of the Trade Union of Culture Workers and was published twice weekly in Moscow. This issue is called Soviet cosmonaut in space and features a photograph of Yuri Gagarin, a Soviet pilot, and cosmonaut who became the first human to travel into space on April 12, 1961. The issue covers articles about the Vostok 1 spaceflight, a message of Nikita Khrushchev, First Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, reactions in the countries abroad, technical flight preparation, and space exploration. Includes photographs by V. Baturin and A. Troshin and drawing by P. Koretsky. Very good condition, one paper tear, creases and browning. 4 pages.
