Issues #17 and #18 of Stroyim magazine (We Are Building magazine), a constructivist photojournalism publication. Published 1937. These joint issues celebrate 20 years of the Soviet Union. Of particular note is a great photomontage of Stalin, Lenin, a globe with the hammer and sickle, and industrial buildings. Articles include 'The sun doesn't go down on our city' with photos of the Kremlin, a coal mine, ZIS cars; 'The Happiness of the People', which focuses on Ukraine, and includes a great panoramic photo of the capital; 'Links to the Homeland' which discusses life in Soviet Uzbekistan. Adverts at the back of the magazine promote Soviet films 'Lenin in October', 'Pugachev', 'Treasure Island', and 'The Lonely White Sail'. Poor condition, tears, creasing, foxing. Folded horizontally with paper losses along the fold in the first half of the magazine.
