Original vintage brochure The Art of Theatrical Makeup / Iskusstvo Grima. A visual manual for workshops, drama schools, and professional actors compiled by N. M. Novlyansky, a Soviet theatre and film actor, the artist of the Moscow State Chamber Theatre. The brochure is based on extracts from lectures given by Novlyansky at the Moscow Central Theatre College and at the Moscow State Conservatory. The album contains a number of tables with schematic drawings that convey the techniques and main features of the make-up masks of modern theatre. The album is illustrated with drawings by Vadim Ryndin and photographs by Boris Fabisovich. The album includes such examples of make-up as a young male, young female, old make-up, grotesque and caricature, the use of applications with knitwear and cotton wool, historical make-up, and others. Published by Teakinopechat, Moscow, 24 pages. Poor condition, rusted staples, the cover and some pages are loose, tears and paper losses on the cover, the spine and some pages, pen marks, folds, creasing, stain, foxing.
