Original reference The Book Laboratory / Labaratorija knigi by Alexander Lavrentiev, Soviet and Russian art critic, art historian, graphic designer, and curator of photographic exhibitions. Collection of student works on paper on the composition of publications of first-grade students 2000-2003 at The Moscow University of Fine Print and the descriptions of work methods based on Constructivism Laboratory - a year-long course of exercises to master the printing experiments of Russian avant-garde artists. Consists of four practices with several exercises: 1) Futuristic book - a series of compositions based on futuristic books in Russia, such as Sadok Sudei (A Trap for Judges), the first literary and artistic collection of works by Russian futurists in the history of Russian literature Worldbackwards (Mirskontsa) and others; 2) White field of Suprematism - work with coloured planes in the space of white. 3) Constructivism: structure and functional approach - the study of constructivism in graphic design. 4) From exercises - to the project of the catalogue - the combination of the material in a single collection; an article about collage experiments. The exercises of students are created based on the works of such artists as Aleksei Kruchenykh, Vladimir Mayakovsky, El Lissitzky, Kazimir Malevich, Solomon Telingater, Alexander Rodchenko, Varvara Stepanova. Published by Moscow Grant publishers, 69 pages. Very good condition, minor paper skimming on cover.
