Rare original periodical on poster design published in February 1899, issue VIII, volume II with an article dedicated to the Beggarstaff Brothers (the pseudonym adopted for the 1893-1899 period of an artistic partnership between William Nicholson, 1872-1949, and his brother-in-law, James Pryde, 1866-1941) by Charles Hiatt. The Poster, 1898-1900, was a monthly magazine dedicated to poster art in Britain, the first periodical of its kind. Four full-page colour lithograph poster designs by J&W Beggastaff in the book with articles on Loie Fuller, German and American posters and others. Profusely illustrated with poster photos and designs. Cover by J Pryde, a British artist who is principally remembered as one of the Beggarstaffs for the poster designs and other graphic work which had a powerful and far-reaching influence on graphic design for many years.
