English language edition of issue #1 of 1939 USSR in Construction. USSR in Construction was a constructivist publication dedicated to construction projects and industry in the USSR, published in Russian, French, English, Spanish and German 1930 to 1941 as a collaboration between some of the most esteemed Soviet artists of the time. This issue focuses on Soviet Cossacks, and features a great selection of constructivist photos and photomontage. Photos depict cossacks on horseback, Stalin and Voroshilov at Red Square, collective farms, young cossack collective farmers training as pilots, horses on the Don Steppe, fields being harvested, and Cossack cavalrymen.
