Original vintage book USSR The Red Army and Navy designed by Alexander Rodchenko (1891-1956), a Russian and Soviet artist, sculptor, photographer, and graphic designer. He was one of the founders of constructivism and Russian design and Varvara Stepanova (1894-1958), a Russian artist. With her husband Alexander Rodchenko, she was associated with the Constructivist branch of the Russian avant-garde, which rejected aesthetic values in favour of revolutionary ones. The publication was created as a propaganda piece dedicated to the army and navy. The book contains black-and-white photographs depicting the life of a soldier in different circumstances like training, exercising, studying, activities, as well as photographs of artillery to show the power of different types of troops, especially the air force, armoured units, artillery, navy, the airborne troops, snipers, riflemen, cavalry troops chemical protection. Contains tipped-in pictures of Lenin and Stalin, including a fold-out picture of Red Square during the celebration of the 1st of May. Published by State Art Publishers, Moscow and Leningrad, 50 pages. Fair condition, tears on the spine and some pages, some pages are loose, folds, creasing, stain, minor foxing.
