Issue #10 of USSR in Construction, 1932. USSR in Construction was a monthly constructivist publication dedicated to construction projects and industry in the USSR, published in Russian, French, English, and German 1930 to 1941 as a collaboration between some of the most esteemed Soviet artists of the time. The issue is dedicated to Dnieprostroy and the Dnieper Hydroelectric Station, and tells the story of its construction with great examples of constructivist photography and photomontage. Sections include 'Project of Dnieprostroy - Dnieprostroy After Completion', with aerial photos of the dam, 'The Explosions of the Civil War Thundered on the Dnieper', accompanied by great photos of soldiers, explosions and machine guns, and a foldout photomontage titled 'The Best of The Best' with portraits of those involved in the construction of the power station. A photomontage illustrates the areas which use electricity from the hydroelectric station; a circular photo of power lines forms a compass, with arrows pointing to pictures of regions to the north, south, east and west. Artwork and design by El Lissitzky. Poor condition, covers detached, tears, paper losses, creasing, staining, some loose pages.
