English language version of USSR in Construction #10 1936, written and directed by El Lissitzky. USSR in Construction was a constructivist publication dedicated to construction projects and industry in the USSR, published in Russian, French, English, and German 1930 to 1941 as a collaboration between some of the most esteemed Soviet artists of the time. This issue focuses on the Kabardino-Balkarian Autonomous Region, and features artists including Z Deyneka, M Prekhner, S Tretyakov and G Petrusov. The cover features a great example of constructivist design, with a map of the Kabardino-Balkarian region in a circle, with a photo of an engraving of Lenin over it. Of particular interest is a photo of the famous Kabardian horses, and a double page spread with an illustrated map of 'A Socialist Panorama - the Course of the Swift Baksan from Elbrus to the Steppe', showing the route of the Baksan River down Mount Elbrus, annotated with heights above sea level, and photos of the locations along the course of the river. Poor condition, staining, tears. paper losses on the cover. The bottom staple is missing so pages are loose but not detached.
