English language version of issue #11 USSR in Construction, published 1931. USSR in Construction was a publication dedicated to construction projects and industry in the USSR, published in Russian, French, English and German 1930 to 1941 as a collaboration between some of the most esteemed Soviet artists of the time. The issue is devoted the industrialization of the North. Articles and photos explore Yakuta in the Arctic circle, 'an autonomous socialist soviet republic, a country where a new culture is growing'. Photos show industrial scenes, including miners with coal, a polar fox fur farm, and farmers harvesting. Photos by N. Strazh and George Zelmanovich, text by A Alexandrov.
