Великая Утопия Русский и советский авангард 1915-1932 (The Great Utopia Russian and Soviet Avant-Garde 1915-1932) is an essential compendium of essays and examples of Russian and Soviet Avant-Garde art, created to accompany a 1993 exhibition which toured New York, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Moscow, and Saint Petersburg. Essays cover a broad range of topics including Constructivism, the 0.10 exhibition, Russia's contribution to the 1924 Venice Biennial, Soviet book art, Russian textiles, and the interaction between the Avant-Garde and politics. 692 colour images of Avant-Garde artwork, in addition to artist portraits, are drawn from public and private collections from across the world, including Baku, Moscow, Kyiv, Riga, Samara, Tashkent, and St Petersburg. Includes works by Gustav Klutsis, Alexander Vesnin, Ivan Puni, Kazimir Malevich, Lyubov Popova, Ivan Klyun, Olga Rozanova, Alexandra Exter, Vladimir Lebedev, El Lissitzky, Natan Altman, the Stenberg brothers, Vassily Kandinsky, and Naum Gabo. The cover features V Ermilov's 'Composition' and K Malevich's 'Red Cavalry'. Produced by the Russian Ministry of Culture, the Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum and the Russian Artistic Production Combinat, published by Galart, Moscow.
