The first Mayback W3 was introduced in 1921; although it was considered the pinnacle of engineering,the models were very large,expensive,and normally required a chaffeur. The smaller SW-38,introduced in 1936,offered a lighter,more agile and more accessible version of Maybach's outstanding engineering,capable of reaching speeds of almost 100mph.
