English language version of USSR in Construction - СССР на стройке issue #3, dated March 1933. USSR in Construction was a monthly constructivist publication dedicated to construction projects and industry in the USSR, published in Russian, French, English, and German 1930 to 1941 as a collaboration between some of the most esteemed Soviet artists of the time. Dedicated to the Soviet Volga, the issue is divided into five sections; Volga in the Past, Civil War on the Volga, Soviet Volga, Volga of the Nations, and Volga - A Waterway. Photos, paintings, maps and ephemera illustrate each section, including paintings by I Repin, Surikov and Kustodiev, and ancient engravings of the river. The magazine also focuses on cities along the Volga - following the route of the river, pages are devoted to Yaroslavl, Gorky, Nizhni-Novgorod, Kazan, Ulyanovsk, Samara, Saratov, Stalingrad, and Astrakhan. Fair condition, tears and staining on cover, creasing.
