A cultural history of Moscow, written and published in the Soviet Union by State Art Publishers (Moscow and Leningrad) in 1939. A textured hard cover volume relating the city's significance to the rest of the world, particularly in its role as the capital of the Soviet Union. The book is structured by sub-headings whcih appear in capital letters thorughout the book and include titles 'Moscow Theatres The Pride of Soviet Art', 'A City of Complex Industries' and 'The New Moscow'. Photogrpahs accompany the writing on every page, and on the last page is a pull-out section of photographs depicting important monuments in Moscow such as 'The Rumyanstev Museum' and 'St Basil Cathedral'. Excellent condition, light chips on the spine.
