Cover, flyleaf and title layouts were designed by Mark Kirnarsky, renowned Soviet cover artist. He belonged to the so-called Petrograd school, distinguished by consistent and scrupulous style. Volume 1 contains articles about geography,history, economics and culture of Leningrad. Illustrations are made by photographer V. Presnyakov and pictures of the city by N. Shtertzer. Published by OGIZ in 1933 with edition of 10 000. Poor condition, rubbings with partial loss of the fabric alongside the edges of covers and on the spine of the book. Front cover contains a stain. Second cover has has a stain, tears.1/3 of pages contain water stains. Some pages has folded corners. Loss of left top corner on the inside back cover.453 pages.
