Sovetskaya Kultura / Советская Культура No 45 (1225) 15 April 1961, the issue commemorates the first person to journey into outer space - Travelling on Vostok 1, Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin completed one orbit of Earth on 12 April 1961, with his flight taking 108 minutes, featuring a photograph of Gagarin, articles and songs to commemorate the journey. The first issue of the publication titled Worker and Art was published on 6 November 1929. Since July 1953, the newspaper was called Soviet Culture and was published by the USSR Ministry of Culture and the Central Committee of the Trade Union of Cultural Workers. In 1961-1967, its editor-in-chief was Dmitry Bolshov, a candidate of philosophical sciences. Later, the newspaper became the official printed organ of the Central Committee of the CPSU.
