Issue #1 (23) of Prozhektor, a Soviet illustrated literary and satirical magazine, dated 15 January 1924. Prozhektor was published as a supplement to Pravda newspaper from 1923 to 1935. The cover focuses on Leon Trotzky's illness and features a portrait of him. Inside, articles and photographs cover a range of topics including a police strike in Melbourne Australia, Russo-American relations, and a memoir piece titled 'Thirst for Life' by Soviet writer Alexander Neverov. An article about Swiss-born French art nouveau painter Theophile Steinlen (1859-1923) is accompanied by his portrait, and reproductions of his work. The issue also contains a short stories, advertisements and cartoons. Poor condition, spine damaged, front and back pages detached, browning, staining, paper losses, tears.
