USSR in Construction was a monthly constructivist publication dedicated to construction projects and industry in the USSR, published in Russian, French, English, and German 1930 to 1941 as a collaboration between some of the most esteemed Soviet artists of the time. This issue is dedicated to Kiev, the capital of Soviet Ukraine, and features design by Alexandr Rodchenko and Varvara Stepanova. The inside of the cover features a bright traditional folk design of flowers and berries. Includes a fold out photomontage of statues and churches in Kiev, as well as aerial photos of the city. Also includes a photomontage of apartment blocks being constructed, and photos of Soviet landmarks such as the home of the Central Committee for the Communist Party in Ukraine, the Third International Square, and the Science Academy of the Soviet Union, and photos of the liberation of Kiev. An interesting section is dedicated to traditional Ukrainian art, with embroidery, drawings and sculpture by H Sobotchko, H Pavlenko and P Vlassenko.
