New Novyi LEF Volume 1

£250.00

Reprint of New LEF magazine for 1927 and 1928 years. New Lef (Novyj Lef) objective,as set out in one of its first issues, was to "re-examine the ideology and practices of so-called leftist art,and to abandon individualism to increase art's value for developing communism." Magazine was edited by Mayakovsky along with the playwright, screenplay writer and photographer Sergei Tretyakov. They tried to popularise the idea of "Factography": the idea that new technologies such as photography and film should be utilised by the working class for the production of 'factographic' works. In this it had a great deal of influence on theorists in the West, especially Walter Benjamin and Bertolt Brecht. Includes works by V. Mayakovsky,A. Rodchenko,V. Stepanova,A. Lavinsky,L. Brik,M. Kaufman and others. Published by Wilhelm Fink Verlag. Excellent condition, small scratch, library sticker on the spine of the book.

FAQs

More information about our posters and service.

Are your posters originals?

All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
