Soviet Folk Art 1939 Photography
Soviet Folk Art is a collection of prose,verse and illustrations all concerned with ‘Art’ in Russia and the Soviet Union. The volume serves to present the folk art and traditions of the Russian people which were disregarded under tsarist rule. The volume begins with songs and poems of the folk tradition,including ‘Song of the Fatherland’ by V Lebedev-Kumach,‘Kazakh Song’ from the Kazakh and ‘White Gold’ from the Uzbek. It then moves to the prose section which includes articles on ‘National Festivals’ by E Kreiger,‘Music and the People’ by V Messman,and ‘The Theatre in the Soviet Union’ by J Altman. List of artwork inside: enameled plate design by P Vlasenko; rug with portrait of Stalin by Karanfilyan; a photograph of a scene from the play ‘The Man with the Gun’; a painting by A V Klem ‘Stalin Greets Champion Worker from a Volga German Collective Farm’. Good condition,creases and small tears along spine. Otherwise excellent. 63 pages.

Are your posters originals?
All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
Can I visit your gallery?

Our opening hours are Monday-Friday 10am-6pm; Saturday 11am-5pm (by appointment only on Sundays and bank holidays*).
