Batrachomyomachia or the Battle of Frogs and Mice is a parody of the Iliad. The word batrachomyomachia has come to mean "a silly altercation". Translated from ancient Greek and commented by M Altman. Illustrated by Alisa Poret,a Russian painter and illustrator. Although she’s not a well-known name in the field of early Soviet art,her paintings and illustrations have a wonderful vibrancy and depth. The book has one folded illustration which depicts the Battle of Frogs and Mice and the Greek Gods. Published by publishing house Academia,10 300 copies. Fair condition. Rusted paperclips. Minor distress of the dust cover,loss of material of margins and spine,tears,rubbings. The hardcover has discolouration,staining.

What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

Where do you deliver to?

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
