Day In And Day Out Alice And Jerry Books
The purpose of this book is to provide an easy and profitable silent reading that the child can do by himself. Illustrations by Margaret and Florence Hoopes. The sisters Margaret and Florence Hoopes built a career on the Alice & Jerry readers. The readers were written by Mabel O'Donnell,a teacher in East Aurora,Illinois, who later joined Row Peterson (Evanston,IL) as an editor in 1946. The books were issued in sets and ran from kindergarten through 6th grade. Margaret and Florence worked up watercolours for each book. The watercolours range in approach from well-mannered neutral washes over-controlled drawings to a more gestural approach with patchy brushwork in surprisingly saturated colour. In spots, they become nearly abstract. Fair condition. Frayed spine with some rubbings and tear. Slightly torn cover. Frontpage is reinforced with the tape. Pages are slightly stained. Discolouration on the margins. Published by Row,Peterson and Company,1941. 106 pages.

FAQs
More information about our posters and service.
Are your posters originals?
All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
