Original vintage Constructivist film magazine Soviet Screen Sovetsky Ekran #4 January 1927. It was a weekly magazine on recent developments in film in the USSR. The cover features a still from the film Sar-Pige (A woman),produced by Chuvashkino; the back cover features a still with actors Egorova and Smirnov from the film Ekaterina Izmailova,a 1926 silent Soviet film. The issue includes a caricature of Viktor Deni,a Russian satirist,cartoonist and poster artist. Deni was one of the major agitprop poster artists of the Bolshevist period; articles about film Metropolis,a 1927 German expressionist science-fiction drama film directed by Fritz Lang,and written by Thea von Harbou in collaboration with Lang from von Harbou's 1925 novel of the same name; the film The Wings of a Serf (Krylya kholopa),a 1926 Soviet silent historical film directed by Yuri Tarich; a story with illustrations by M. Getmansky; a portrait of the actor Amvrosy Buchma, a Ukrainian and Soviet stage and film actor,director and pedagogue; journey of cameraman N. Konstantinov in Turkey. What is a lithograph?

Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.

With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.

We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
