The Art Of The Book
The Art Of The Book is written by Bernard Newdigate. His chapters summarising the principles of the art and his comments on the illustrations are alike constructive and calculated to be of service both to specialist and layman. A special feature is the series of seven insets reproducing pages from outstanding books of the period under review. Illustrations of the wood-engravings by Mary Groome,British artist, notable for her work as a printmaker and for the books she illustrated in the 1930s for the Golden Cockerel Press; Eric Gill,an English sculptor, typeface designer, and printmaker, who was associated with the Arts and Crafts movement; R A Maynard,British artist. Good condition. Frayed dust jacket protected with the clear film. Pages are very slightly discoloured but otherwise, the book is in good condition. Published by The Studio Limited,London and New York (1938). 103 pages.

FAQs
More information about our posters and service.
Are your posters originals?
All antique and vintage posters listed on our website are guaranteed originals as detailed in their photographs and descriptions, and include a certificate of authenticity.
What is a lithograph?
Most of the posters found on our website are lithographs. This is a method of printing that involves drawing a reverse image of each colour onto a piece of stone. The poster sheet is then imprinted consecutively with a stone slab for each colour, creating a stunning and rich image.
With the exception of silk printing, I believe that other printing techniques do not deliver the same impact of colour as lithography.
Where do you deliver to?
We ship posters worldwide rolled in shock-resistant and hard wearing tubes. Unless specified otherwise, delivery is free within the UK and standard international delivery is £35 for orders placed via our website.
