First and only edition. Contains tipped-in illustrations by B Titov and V Kolenda. Viktor Kolenda was a Russian and Soviet scholar and artist. Maly Theatre always has been the bastion of classical theatrical tradition. In the 1920s the Blue Blouse was on trends like proletarian theatre and avant-garde experiments of Meyerhold and Tairov. Maly stayed with the tradition,though it was criticized heavily. In 1930s Maly gained its reputation back and became one of the best-recognized theatres of the Union. After a lot of experimental and avant-garde theatres were closed,some of the leading actors found its salvation in joining the troupe of Maly. Published by "Russkoe Teatralnoe Obshchestvo" in Moscow,1924. Poor condition of the cover. The spine is reinforced with the paper tape. Loss of material and tears on the spine.
